Your VA Hearing Aid Program Updates
Dear Veterans,
As many of you know, there have been constant changes in your community care program. Some have been good; others have been endlessly frustrating. We have done — and will continue to do — our absolute best to help you navigate these processes. Our No. 1 goal is to help you obtain the hearing services you earned and deserve so you hear your best.
Because the authorization system has changed, I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you what we know in the hopes that it will help you navigate the system.
Currently, most authorizations are being issued from Ft. Harrison. To obtain an authorization for hearing services, call your VA Primary Care clinic. For now, we are receiving authorizations that allow five visits with your audiologist. We will help you track those visits and notify you when another authorization needs to be requested. If you do not have an authorization and need hearing services, you may call the Missoula CBOC and ask about the VA’s audiology tele-health program that is conducted in Missoula and Hamilton.
If you cannot access the tele-health program, we will be happy to continue to serve you. We encourage clean & checks and regular maintenance, and there is never a charge for such a visit.
As always, we are happy to help you connect your new technology to your cell phone. If significant programming or an office visit is required and you do not have a current authorization, there will be a 45.00 office visit charge. This charge is minimal but helps us cover our operating costs.
Again, we are proud to serve you all and, as a veteran, I certainly understand the frustrations that the authorization process presents. We are happy to help you navigate the system just as we have been for more than 20 years.
